Man, I wanted to make a post about this about an hour ago. I was watching Hank Parker today and he was giving the whole low down on it. I think its pretty fricken cool. It looks just like a normal little boat but its still a kayak. It looks fast and really stable. He has the first one made. Then he went to a show with the Hobie Reps and they were talking about it. He was fishing out of it the whole show. I love the layout and all the storage on it. I really like the rod holder design. I could keep going. I think its a really nice boat.
Seeing it on the Show and seeing Ictalurus "bill" fish out of one last week, really changed my opinion about them. The shop I work at now has a little sister shop now called "Up the Creek" over in the Laplata area and they bought 7 I think to rent out. Im going to head over when the water warms up to try one out.

Hey Joey--you didn't even see me using the pedals. It's a trolling machine. Let me know if you want to try it out. I could bring it to work, and you can take it for a spin.
The new boat sounds kind of cool, but it's heavy. I guess it's cheaper than a jon boat equipped with that kind of storage. A regular jon boat with a trolling motor might be cheaper, you'd have reverse, and you could fish with a buddy. Not as much exercise, though. The horizontal rod holders are cool, though. I'd like to see more boats of all kinds with that kind of set up.

Thats what was so cool though. First I actually got so see one up in person. I always thought you would loose a lot of room in the cockpit with the peddals, but didnt seem like it. I just still think its cool that you could paddle it like normal. I really would like to see the Mirage drive system in use though. Hank Parker got up to 18mph on his. Im kinda interesded now. Still like Malibu, but hobie is getting up there for me.

I did to until they showed it. They were going with a 6mph current so that helped but they really did it. Im going to try to get teh video on youtube.

no way 18mph... i have a hobie with mirage....TOP speed is 6-8 mph.... the angler is not built for speed.....I'd be willing to lay some $$$ that you don't get that 88lb beast to up to 18mph

Then that would 12mph, I still doub it. The adventure only gets about 6-7 mph. No way the angler is faster than that.

Ya, i know its really 12mph and almost everyone doesnt belive it. Just saying what I herd on the Show.
Oh no...I already spent too much money on my CLC 17' and my Hobie Sport...guess my husband wouldn't like me getting this one in the next lifetime or two..it would be great for those times you want to be out all day fishing but it would be too much kayak/boat for throwing it on the car and heading out for a few hours...still doesn't need a trailer though...and you do have good options these days for using finesse instead of muscle to get it on the roof. Looks great for a lot of reasons.

That Hank Parker show is running all this week on Vs network. They said 18 mph and there was a wake, but I seriously doubt that claim. Maybe if they had a 10 hp motor hidden somewhere.

To each thier own,but I need a kayak that I can carry over rough terrain like a suitcase in one hand.A 40# or less 9ftr. is ideal for me in tight spots and negotiating obstacles through the woods,in creeks & especially free flowing rivers like the UP & Susky. Those battle wagons look good with all the gear you can carry ,but that's a hastle for me...too much baggage for me to haul alone.Simpicity is my top priority.

The pro angler is going to have its place. Big dudes over 250 are gonna love its big comfy seat and ridiculous stability. Gear hogs should be peeing their pants with under gunnel storage for 6 rods. Fly fishermen finaly have a true standing platform that they can walk around on. But the market that will realy go nuts on the boat will be the duck hunters. When they discover its deadly stealth there wont be any left to buy. Hobie is working 24/7 right now to fill the demand. I have had them on order for 3 months and mine wont be coming in till mid April.
18mph is impossible. It is a cat hull which should reduce drag and the extra float will reduce drag but the extra width will create drag. I have got the Revo up to 9mph on a gps but that was for a short burst and with the tide. Im guessing the pro angler should be able to cruise comforatably at 4 to 6 mph.
It wheight will be a problem for cartoppers but the pickup truck crowd shouldnt have any problems with it.
