Hello,
I have fished the Virginia/NC outerbanks for the last 10 years in a 20' flat bottom southern skimmer equipped with a Stainless Marine hydrulic jackplate in shallow waters and have found invaluable and trouble free. I would not know how I would do without the jackplate.

I am purchasing a 23' Jones Brothers Cape fisherman CC w/225hp 2-stroke. The hull has a sharp entry and flattens out to a 12 degree deadrise at the stern. With this boat I am sure I will be in areas occassionaly where a jackplate would be very hepful.

I do not see too many jackplate up my way. Espesially on a 23' boat. Is there anything problematic with this or negative that I need to consider?

Thanks,
Southwall
