Tog in the bay

Trying to come up with a good game plan for saturday. I was thinking about fly fishing in the mountains, but am also considering a trip to the lower bay for tog. I know they're not as big as offshore, but I thought it might be fun anyways.
I've checked out Lou's podcast on tying tog rigs. Just wondering also about hook, weight, and bait selection. I'll take any advice given thanks!

Also, you guys fishing the CBBT, are you anchoring off close and drifting your baits back into the pilings?

Get as close to the pilings, or directly over the rocks at the island ends, as you can as you want to fish right down beside the pilings. For bait, use blue crab chunks, whole fiddler crab or clam chunks. These fish are bait stealers, keep a tight line and when you feel the slightest nibble set the hook as fast as you can. Eventually, you will start to anticipate the bite and catch some fish.

Huh? I think he just meant letting the current take (drift) his baits back to the pylons.

BTW - it is easier just to tie up to the pylons and fish off the bow.

I don't think you got what I was saying, but the post prior to yours answered my question.

I'm going with plan C, gonna try some C&R striper in the Potomac. I'll probably get down there in April and try some Tog offshore on one of the nice days.

And if tanker comes buy or a z tug you will smash your bow. I know more then one or two people have been tossed onto the rocks as a tanker or z drive tug came by.
