you are going after varied fish trout, reds, flounder, stripers but not full over the edge. Also soaking bait for someting cool (my 16 yr old likes shark, ray, whatever) We fish Fripp Island Port Royal for reds and trout. I am trying to get familiar with VA bay & inshore fishing.

Give me your 4-6 rod reel combos and tackle you choose without spending my entire tax refund.

I have a Key West 216 Bay Reef and not the experience to get out far.

Thaks for your input.

I like these for flounder, croaker, small to medium stripers, puppy drum, and trout.

I would step up to the 6500 on the Med Ugly Stick and a BillFisher Rod for the Penn 320. That heavy rod will be your mainstay for trolling stripers, trolling for Flounder, and Spring Drum. The light rod will be your bottom bouncer for Flounder, jigging for Trout, casting for Stripers, and bobbing for Spades.

6.5' MH spinning rod (diawa makes a really good pretty cheap rod) with a 4000 Shimano Symetre and 30 lb braid. Good for everything from pups to stripers to flounder. ~$150.00

7' MH baitcasting rod (penn powersticks are good and cheap) with a 500 Diawa Saltist and 30 lb. mono. Drum, Cobia, live baiting stripers, trolling. ~$225.00

7' M spinning rod with 2000 Shimano Symetre spolled w/ 8 lb mono or 15 lb braid for trout, casting to schoolies, baitfising. ~$150.00

6.5' MH baitcasting rod with Shimano TR-200G spooled w/30 lb. braid. Heavier rod for nearshore wreck fishing, deep drifting flounder. ~$125.00
