A few buddies and I decided to try some Tog fishing on Saturday. We got some coordinates from a friend of ours and headed out. We left Messick Point in Poquoson around 9:30. We saw a crabber stopped and bought a 1/2 bushell of sooks and to the High Rise we went. After fighting the tide and finally getting the anchor to hold we all got set up and dropped our lines. I caught an oystertoad just after the tide change. We fished there for a while then we tried a couple of other pilings with no luck. We then tried around the ocean side of the 4th island with no luck. The fog was as thick as mud at this point. We chatted with Jet Ski Brian for a few he took a couple pics of our motley crew and we were west bound back toward Poquoson. The closer we got to land the clearer it got. We saw a few boats off at Back River Reef and decided since we were out we would try there. AGAIN,no luck! We had a few explitives for the horrible day of fishing then realized it was better than sitting at home. Upon arrival at our home port we said our good byes and the captain and I went back to his house cleaned the boat and rods then steamed the rest of our crabs. All in all it was a delicious ending to a good day out on the bay. Hopefully next time we'll be eating tog at the end of the day instead of our bait.
