OBX Trout

The sound bite has begun in OBX. The last two days there have been several trout caught at the little bridge. One 4lb fish and several small ones. Got this info from a reliable source while fishing the pond for drum yesterday. Caught one 26" drum in the pond but they seem to be moving out of there and should be showing up at the little bridge as well. Time to start checking your springtime holes. If its anything like last year we have some incredible fishing coming up over the next two months. There were more trout and drum around last year than i've seen in years and this year should be even better. Go get em guys.

The little bridge = the first one leaving on 64 ?

Did you get a ticket for fishing the pond ? Can they give you a ticket if you stay on/in your boat ? I will stop at the CHNSS visitor center and ask just to be safe.

Last year we did well on trout in the canadian hole.

Yes, on the causeway. Parking area is on the left if you are heading towards manteo. No, as long as you stay in your yak in the pond you should be fine. The rumors about coast guard running people out were false. Some guys did get tickets for leaving thier boats and wadeing on the east side where the closures are. The west side is not closed so you can access that side on foot if you want. I was told yesterday that they can ticket you in a boat for being too close to the closed areas but do not know of this happening yet. Stay to the west side and you should be fine. Never fished can hole last year. No reason to drive that far for me. Trout and drum were thick in just about every place i tried around manteo, wanchese, causeway, lighthouse, OI, pirates cove, kitty hawk, nags head etc... Every area has a different best tide and once you figure that out you will be able to predict where the best bite will be. Good luck.
