Looking at a second home on Fenwick Island.
I'm running a 24 Albe. What offshore opportunities exist out of IRI for a small boater?
Thanks in advance for the info.

pretty much the same opportunities as any spot out of OC, maybe 5-6 more miles to spots to the SE like the Hambone, 11-12 miles more to the Washington and point South of that

Wilmington canyon, Baltimore canyon and poormans are out on the 100 FA line
We go from OC every week in my 24 Bimini, mostly to the washington canyon.
For inshore Blufin try the hotdog, hambone, chicken bone, etc
Go over to the tackle shop on route 1 ,north of the IRI bridge and get a good offshore chart.

I fished out of IRI marina all of last summer. The bluefin bite at the elephant trunk was great last summer. 42 miles from IRI. There was a nice rockfish bite going on at the sea end of the inlet on each out going tide and a sea bass bite 10 miles offshore. It is not as crowded as OC. I am returning this year

I don't have knowledge of IR but I do have a perfect 2nd home for sale on Rudee Inlet n Virginia Beach. Condo, waterfront community, my unit does not have a slip but you can buy or rent one from other unit owners. 3min from slip to ocean, 20 min to CBBT, fantastic inshore/offshore fishing opportunities. If the wind is blowing you can fish off the dock. Send a BM if you want more info.

Leon,
We're in South Bethany and keep our boat on a lift behind our house. We HAVE to go out via the OC Inlet - takes a full hour. If you ended up on the bayside in Fenwick it would only take you 40+ to get there.
If you don't end up on the bay, you can botel you boat at IR and they'll have it ready to go when you get there.
Good luck with your search. Some friends of ours just bought on the beach at S. Carolina. He's looking forward to walking out to surf fish.
