I shoot quite a bit of .38 Spec., 357 Mag., and .45 ACP, informal, paper target shooting. I cast all my own lead bullets. This past 2 months, lead wheel weights or any other kind of lead I used to buy, are gone. Primers & Powder! Places I used to buy are out and not knowing when they will get more. 2 places I buy from in PA, big suppliers, are back ordered, not knowing, if or when. Bricks (500) of .22 LR, gone, sold out. I called 4 places in MD today, nothing available. If you reload or shoot often, have you noticed this? Can you turn me on to a source? T.

I am in VA and it's very much the same all over the Country. I just ordered a load of 209 primers along with some powder to of set the hasmat fee. The same company was out of most of the rifle and pistol primers or I would have added these to the list. Midway, Natches, Balistic products and others have ordered primers and are on back order so if you want some at this point it would be best to order through a reputable dealer and wait until they get them.

Supply and demand are out of balance due to the recent election. Not only are people stocking up on ammo and reloading components but everyone that ran out and bought a new gun over the last six months is probably doing more shooting. Because of the shortage people are buying extra ammo when they can find it, further contributing to the problem. Once everyone feels they have enough ammo to withstand the coming zombie invasion ammo will become more available.

T, Locally you could try Reddings Hardware in Gettysburg 717-334-5211 or Taylors Trading Post outside Biglerville 717-677-8513.

You just have to keep checking the local stores and be ready to buy when they have stock.

And that's how it goes too, first guy with the cash gets the primers. I talked with a guy up in PA today that has good discount prices., been dealing with him for years. He said that most of the components are going to factory loaded ammo, whats left over comes to the guys that reload. The demand for factory ammo is up more than 50% due to the Obama election. People are hoarding ammo, people that voted for Obama and never owned a gun before, now have bought guns and want bunches of ammo, just because. I used to call in an order, my dealer would set it aside for me and I'd drive up 2-3 days later and pick it up. Talking 2-300 bucks per order. No more of that, what little he gets in he sells the same day. I did find one place in PA that had CCI, small pistol primers in stock. I usually pay 22-24 bucks for a thousand. This guy wanted 50 bucks per thousand. Well he can stick them where the sun don't shine too. Now I heard thru the grapevine, that if your the first one thru the doors at this weekend's gun show at the Frederick Fair Grounds, you'll be able to buy some reloading stuff. So someone should just kick my ass for being so stupid. I knew that there was a possibilty of this happening before this clown was elected, I should have stocked up. And now it's happening. Anyone tried to buy an AR lately? Waiting list and the prices have gone way up. I liked it the way it was, I don't need no stinkin change. Shit!

I'm building my own Ar's now from diffrerent sourced parts. The good news is I can custmize them exactly how I whant. The parts are out there if you know where to look. I can still build a 1500$ custom AR for around 800$. I've got two in the works right now.
