Spent a few hours Friday morning casting above Chain Bridge. Things were slow. Foul-hooked some gizzard shad, but didn't see a single hickory. Water was nice if a tad high. The birds were doing very well. I think the gizzard shad were just fine by them.
I had one unusual thing happen. I had a gizzard shad appear to take my fly with it's mouth. That's the first gizzard I've ever landed that wasn't foul-hooked. I wonder if I finally foul-hooked one in the lip.
Heard we have some rain on the way. Hope it doesn't blow the river out.
