My 10 yr old son and I hit the Pax at Rt 4 for perch today. We fished twister tail jigs and roadrunner jigs with twisters tipped wth bloodworms and bottom rigs with minnows and bloodworms, and it was slow. We caught 3 small white perch and one small yellow. We fished from around 11 to 5 pm, mostly upriver within a mile plus of the bridge. No one we talked to caught much. One shoreline fishermen said several folks caught hickory shad yesterday. Another fishernan said the white perch were thick one to two weeks ago.

It was a nice day on the water, and I finally boated that stretch of the Pax, its something I have wanted to do for a very long time. It was fun checking it out with my son. We paddled a 12 ft wilderness systems tarpon SOT and a dagger blackwater 10.5 sit in kayak.

I have been wanting to paddle that stretch also. Intersting report about the Hickory Shad. I may have to try that area out for them

book,

Thats the way my fishing luck usually goes, but I find that with spring runs of spawning fish it can really change quickly. The fish often seem to come and go in waves, and if you hit a wave its awesome. I also prefer to not fish during full moons, the full moon and a low tidal level were probably both counting against us.
