The first 2009 Northern Neck Anglers Club members meeting. The meeting will be held on Saturday April 25th at 7:00pm in the Heathsville Library. All members, guests, and other interested anglers are welcome. The meeting is free to everyone.

There will be as short business session and then a mini-seminar on fishing for Rockfish. The featured speaker will be member Ken Chaffin, a five time NNAC tournament award winner. Ken is also a tackle sales associate at Gander Mountain in Fredericksburg. He operates out of Lewisetta and knows the Potomac and Maryland Bay very well.
Ken's NNAC awards were as follows:
2008 Trophy Rockfish Tournament - 1st place team captain.
2008 Spanish Lessons Tournament - 1st place Bluefish.
2008 Bonus Rockfish Tournament - week #3 1st place Rockfish, Overall 1st place winner.
2007 Trophy Rockfish Tournament - 3rd place team captain.
2006 Spanish Lessons Tournament - 2nd place Bluefish.

The tournaments to be covered at the mini-seminar are the Trophy Rockfish Tournament which is sponsored by B.E.S.T. Marine near Saluda, and the Rock-A-Thon Tournament which is sponsored by R.W's Sport Shop in Callao. The Club thanks these generous sponsors for their support.

This is a good opportunity to get to meet some of the best anglers around the Northern Neck and the Middle Peninsula.

For more information on the NNAC do a Google search for Northern Neck Anglers Club. You should find the NNAC home page there.

I hope to see you there. Dave

Well, here's what I've won:
2008 1st place Bluefish
2008 1st place Spanish Lessons
2008 2nd place Trophy Rock
2007 1st place Trophy Rock

I didn't know anyone else was in the Northern Neck Anglers Tournaments.

Hold on there Jay. I believe there were a few others fishing the NNAC tournaments. By the way, I thought you would be doing
the Mini seminar for the Spanish Lessons and Grab Bag Tournaments. That was a deal, wasn't it?

Just for kicks I looked up the awards I've won in the NNAC. Not all that impressive though, but here they are.
2008 2nd place team captain for Trophy Rockfish Tournament.
2008 1st place Spot in Spanish Lessons Tournament.
2007 1st place Flounder in the Flounder Bash Tournament.
2006 2nd place week #4 of Bonus Rockfish Tournament.
2005 1st place Croaker in Target Ship Shoot Out Tournament.
2005 1st place Rockfish in Striper Challenge Tournament.

I'm not sure who has the most awards, but I think Don Abernathy is right up there near the top. Don had six wins.
Marty Jewell had six wins too.
I'll have to look it up and post the awards leader.

Man, I suck! I've only got two wins......: (

Looking forward to hearing Ken's presentation, I've seen him bring back some big fish to Lewisetta Marina!

Well Jay, I looked up the results. The most awards were won by Tom Smith with 7 to his credit.
Following with 6 wins each were Emmett Boyd, Matt Bruington, Don Abernathy, Marty Jewell, youth angler Donnie O'Leary
and your truly. The awards were rather well spread out amoung the members. In 2008 there were 23 different people who
won one or more awards. I think that is really great since it shows that anyone can come up with a winner.

Now Mushy, don't feel bad. You've been quite competative most of the time. We just need to bone up on the Flounder fishing.

Hey Dave...Look up the Gregg's wins. (Jackie, Scott, Lindsey and Evan) As a boat, I think we give 'em all a run for their money. Last year was the worst for us. This year...well, ya'll better watch out.
:-)

In fact, you know what would be fun? Post the Tourneyment win archive on the website!

John, you have to be a member of the Northern Neck Anglers Club or a guest of a member in order participate. Then you have to put a line in the water and hope for the best. We have some very good anglers in the Club, so it isn't that easy to win.
