First time Ive need to use them ..I need them on my holders behind my seat for when I'm trolling I have to face the rod & reel to wards the engines..because the reel buts up against the seat and wont allow it to lock in place..I ordered 2- 4 inch gimbal lifters has anyone used them and have you had any issues...I got them from meltons..Thanks In advance Jimmy K.!

Hi Jimmy,
I installed a Extra-Long Lee Swivel Base holder on the starboard side for our DFA a couple of years ago.
Got the same 4" lifter from Meltons so we could use the rod holder for all the other rods.
I crimped a length of mono to the lifter so I could pull it out, because you can't get to the bottom of a swivel mount to push it out. If you can get to the bottom of your holders you can push the lifter up far enough to grab it.
The lifter also got "stuck" in the swivel base once, and I couldn't pull it out with the mono. Had to disassemble the holder to get the lifter free. Used a rasp to taper the bottom of the lifter a bit - no problems now.

I have used the ones from Melton, and they work just fine. If your using on a bent but just make sure you have your safety straps attached.

we use them on randy's boat for our short bent but rods daytiming for swords and haven't had a problem. i think we use the So-Lo's CONVERSION ADAPTER (400-59) 2 or 4" ones. they have worked fine. http://solomarine.com/images/products/products2/400-59.jpg
