I started in my lower field on Saturday Morning's VA Spring Gobbler Season Opener. Got to watch 2 nice gobblers fly down then be joined by 8 hens. After watching them move away (for an hour). Hard to work birds in a wide open field and no way to flank them. So I figured I try another location on my property. So I set up again on another gobbler. I had heard on the roost earlier that morning. This bird sounded like it was 150-200 yards to my right in the new location. After two series of yelping and some aggressive cutting and cackling. A hen responded to my left on top of a hill, a 100 yards away. After one more series of yelping she worked her way down to me. Well to my surprise, about 25 yards behind her, was her boyfriend in tow. Once she past my location. The Tom strutted right on in to within 20 yards. After watching the show for about 5-7 minute. I had to give him a life stopping HEADACHE!!! Daddy scored this time with a 19 lb 1 oz Gobbler with a 10-1/2" bird and 1" spurs. My daughter beat me on Beard Length but I got her on weight. Daddy Daughter team "G" Two for two. Lets see how this Saturday turns out. I have a old college buddy coming in to try his luck. Come on Three for Three!!!!!!!

Sorry no pictures. Wife was gone to work and took the camera. I didn't want the turkey to spoil. So I breasted him and right now he is marinading in the refrig. for dinner for tomorrow night......
