Who will be at Fletchers Friday morning? If my schedule holds, I'll be there from 6:30am-8:30am (assuming that we don't get too much rain today). If all the stars and planets align, I'll be back Saturday morning with the kids....do you know what time on Saturday they open this year?

So Goose, how'd you do on Friday? I didn't get there until after 10:00am. I did OK, not great. I tacked my Friday report to the end of my 4-16-09 report.

Anyone know what time they start renting rowboats at Fletcher's on Sunday AM? Thanks!

Welcome to the Boathouse at Fletcher's Cove (http://www.fletcherscove.com/index.htm)

I suggest that you call them and ask what time they start renting boats on Sat.

FYI with this rain the river will soon rise to levels where Fletchers stops renting boats. If anyone has other questions about rental boat availability you should call them to get the most updated info.

As I remember, Fletchers stops renting boat when the flow at the Little Falls gauge goes above 5 feet. (Use to be 5.5 feet but was changed to 5 feet a couple of years ago.) Check the following site for current flow at Little Falls and a flow prediction for the next few days.

Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service: (Baltimore/Washington) Sterling: Potomac River near Washington DC (Little Falls) (http://newweb.erh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lwx&gage=BRKM2)

Did you make it back on Saturday Jeff, how was it?

I had a friend fish last night and he said the water was muddy. This was before the rain. But it wasn't that bad down near Georgetown. The graph shows a little spike in flow yesterday. But they still caught some fish.

The forecast is not updated yet. Could take some time. I'd expect it could hit 7 feet by Wednesday and might come down for the weekend. I have a flats trip in mind for next weekend but am worried the rain is now falling all over the Susky drainage. The high water will probably coincide perfectly for my weekend plans. Just my luck.

Sorry, never made it Friday....work got too busy so I couldn't do it, not even very early. Based on the flow reports, it looks like the big bubble of water from Paw Paw started to arrive at Fletchers Friday afternoon and into Saturday.:(( And now with the rain today, I'm guessing that this Thursday/Friday may be wishful thinking. Getting the work schedule and water level in harmony is a problem for me each year. I hoope to get out 3-4 more times, but will be happy if I get in 2 more.

second that you need to call Fletchers. Ray told me earlier this month that they stop renting at 4.8 feet. so pays to call.

Thanks. I posted this question on Saturday night after Fletcher's closed---when I called there was no one answering, so I thought I'd try the board for any other late-night shad fans.

I did go fishing on Sunday AM (BTW, they told me they start renting boats at 6AM, if you leave your license with Paula the dock attendant, and pay later--otherwise it's 7).

Caught maybe 20 shad over a few hours. Not steady action, but a few spurts of catching fish on nearly every cast for a few minutes, with a few large ones mixed in. A wonderful morning.
