What's a good water temperture for crabs to start running?:helpsmilie:

Crabs come out of the mud when temps get in the upper 40's.
They begin to grow when the temp hits 59*
They will be begin to show in decent numbers if we can get some warm days and not so cool nights. By the 2-3 week of May those using traps will have the best success.
In the mean time enjoy the Spring Rockfish Fishing!

More than enough for what?:confused::eek:

Not really enough to make money but, more than enough for a meal.

I did sell it, I caught 22lbs of crab today. The shallows are 62* right now, main river 58*......It's gonna be a good year.

Good Job Tony,
I didn't realize the Rivers off the Potomac were that warm.
Keep up the good work!

Use the “Search” browser for Snood Lines, over the years this topic has been discussed
thoroughly.

If this was directed at me.........

This was not the Potomac or a "rivers off the Potomac".....so don't tie my given water temps with the Potomac or "rivers off the Potomac"

Bottom line is, I'm catchin crabs.

Lighten up Tony. If you don't appreciate Dale's friendly response, then there's nothing left to add.

BTW- if your report would have included a general location, this post would be moot.

It appears the best water temp is where ever my “Old” friend Tony is
Crabbing.
It seems when questions are asked on this board ,one should address the question to Topfish, since his responses are generally directed to the person trying to provide a answer to a question.
I'm sorry Tony but it was not that many years ago you were one who himself was sending b-mails and asking some of us crabbing related questions.
I'm happy to see you were able to learn so much about crabbing in such a short period of time.:eek2:

Geee that brings some words to mind. "You don't sound like you have much experience" Lets see something with a pot... and it calling the kettle black or something like that? Dale there are always some who take offense to everythiing! It seems like I find them all the time. I think I'm getting close to done with these boards! Just gonna read and laugh. I will post if I have some good info for crabbing to try and help but other than that it has become such a waste of time. Good luck to all in the upcoming season! Even you Tony. Safe journey's :-) Lets see how many smart remarks this brings LOL

Is this the same "TONY" that was booted off of the board a while ago for his pleasant, positive and delightful behavior?

Without pictures, this time of year, it is doubtful. I could claim the same thing. Capt Dale, we all have learned something from the posts of others. Hope to make good use of trotline this year if the crabs are plentiful. Happy crabbing for all of us this year.
