Well I picked up the new war machine this weekend. sea vee 290i with a 370 cummins:D
She is a beast ready to wipe out the tuna population.... I have a couple kinks to iron out the boat came with a simrad ap14 auto pilot. I cant seem to get it to work. the unit powers up and constantly reads a heading of 200? i hit all the buttons on the remote and nothing happens maybe the display is bad?

Sweet ride. Congrats. What is that sticking out near the helm windshield?
If you turn the boat and and the heading stays the same (stuck on 200), then likely your fluxgate compass is no good or perhaps just check the wiring to the fluxgate compass.
I have the simrad AP16. Try going thru the installation setup and sea trial to get it working right. Hopefully you have the manual. If that doesn't work call for tech assistance, I had to do this once and they were very helpful. Nice ride, by the way.

Thanks, I will look at that.
The thing sticking out is the hatch on the front of the center console for the engine compartment, (its open in the picture).
Thanks

Straight inboard diesel......priceless.
I don't know what you had before but it's probably gonna take a little bit of getting used to being a single inboard. They don't steer the same especially in a following sea. I had an Albemarle 24 stendrive and it handled like a sports car compared to my present boat( 25 Topaz inboard powered with a 220 HP Volvo diesel ). However, the fuel consumption is mind boggling as you will soon find out. Stay on top of the fuel filters ( keeping the filters-primary & secondary clean ) situation and you will have nothing to worry about. Also don't forget to add biocide every time you take fuel on. You can put crazy hours on a diesel!!!! I would not have any other type of power and would not trade the boat for any thing in the world. NOTHING RAISES FISH LIKE A DIESEL :yes::yes::yes:
