Healthy Grin

I met my wife for lunch on Friday. As I was leaving to head back to work, I asked her what she was doing in the afternoon. She said that she was going to get a stump grinder. Huh? I did not know that we needed any stumps ground. I told her that we can just hire someone to do that. No, she was going to do it. I went back to work and she drove her mini-van to some rental place and got a stump grinder. I wonder how many mini-vans have towed stump grinders? When I got home from work, she was in our neighbor’s yard grinding her stumps. I said, “Honey, what are you doing?” She said that she was already done with ours. Our neighbor was not even home. I hope she wanted her stumps ground.
I was going fishing Saturday and the weather looked nice. I asked Tricia if she wanted to catch some tautog. She said that the grinder did not have to be back until 3 PM Saturday and she was going to grind stumps. Saturday morning, she got up and towed the grinder to my parents' house where she proceeded to grind more stumps. I think she did 16 total. I went fishing. I bet I’m the only guy to go fishing while his wife ground stumps. I guess I feel guilty about that but in my defense, she is a nut. I told her that I did not know another woman who would even have the thought of getting a stump grinder.
We wreck hopped both Saturday and Sunday. We fished the Consols, Hanks, Ricks, Cuyahoga, Morgan, Luckenbach, Doxie Girl, and Birch Lake. I don’t think I left any out. We caught fish everywhere and no one wreck was red hot. We caught a total of 80 tautog and a bunch of sea bass. Most of the sea bass were too small to keep but we did get a nice mess and at least one over 4 pounds each day with the heaviest being Matt Rinck’s 4 pound 10 ounce fish. Most of the tautog were tagged and released. We caught 5 tautog which already had tags. The largest tog we tagged was 23 inches long. The heaviest tog we kept was a bit over 8 pounds.
Two nice days out on the water and there are no more stumps in my neighborhood.
