I bought this flare kit the other day in Bass Pro. It was $26 but could be worth your life. I've been looking for a small personnal 'notification' device to carry in my Mustang PFD if I ever went in the drink at night.
After the incident the other night at the first island where 1 person didn't make it, just thought it would be a good idea to show everyone this great little flare kit. Check out the size. If you boat overturned and you couldn't get to your regular flare kit, this could be your life saver.
It comes with 3 flares and a pen size holder that you screw the flare onto and then pull the trigger. Its USCG approved also. This kit is good until 2012 and it floats.
