View Full Version : Need crabs for May 2nd
Hi,
I need crabs for May second. Does anyone know where I can get a 1/2 to one bushel of large males locally at a good price? I have been checking at two places near to me in Glenn Dale, MD and they are asking about $240 for a cooked bushel. I can cook them myself, but I just want to know if there are any better deals out there. They have been telling me that their bushel is about 6 dozen crabs. It is hard for me to pay that much when I am use to catching my own bushel on a trot line later in the year.

Moc- give Bob Evans a call- he's on Muddy Creek rd in Churchton between Galesville and Shady Side. I know you crab the Rhode- he's not far from there. Not sure of a bushel price, but he was selling mixed males for 25 a dozen over the weekend. Kinda tough to get much of a "deal" this early in the year, but that's still better than buying a steamed box of crabs from who knows where. Oh yea, his # is 410-867-3884.

I must have been posting at the same time as Jeff, but Mel's is definitely another good option. Again, not cheap for this time of year, but he'll sell you a good bushel for the price.

Moc, I forgot about Shoreline in Gambrills and Arundel Seafood in Pasadena too.
Good Luck.
Thanks everyone for the info. With all this information, I am sure that I will get some crabs for the family one way or another.

He delivers occasionally as far north as Baltimore as well. Might be worth checking out? $100 a bushel isn't too shabby for #1s.

Yeah Jerry, they're probably catching up the crabs that were off-limits during last fall and winter.

Had 'em this weekend. Decent heavy crabs. Met the guy at the McDonalds next to Anglers on 50. It's possible.:D
