Did some sight fishing for bass yesterday the conditions were ideal for this type fishing. Flipped jigs and casted twitch baits. We saw some real big ones, but we couldnt get them to bite. There was 4 of them all next to one another 5+ lbs. I just about crapped my drawers! I think we could have been more steath like and got em butt stuff happens. Man talk about gettin your ol ticker goin. Sussex DE. ponds we fished three different ones yesterday. Water 58f all fish we saw and caught were shallow near deeper water. My buddie was hung up in a tree and spotted one. He coached me through where to flip, and when the bass ate the jig I never saw the fish until I set the hook! I felt the fish was his not mine but it was cool working as a team to getter done.

It's hard to beat those ponds this time of year.

I cant compete with you tidal guys largemouth but up here in the mountains / piedmont this is a pretty decent march bass...He smacked the hell out of green spinnerbait with two gold blades...was cought on a mod retrieve with a little slow rollin action...suspended is my best guess for location...

hay capt. nick, there were a few boats up that way. we fished a tourny out of the nottaway, had 35 boats in it we took second. we ran 50 some miles one way to fish. it payed off because the ones that stayed close by caught little fish. they were chomping top water and worms pretty good. got a tourny at lake gaston sat and a regional sun. not looking forward to it either.

It's hard to find places that aren't pressured by other fishermen anymore.50 miles will help.

I fished a farm pond last Thursday. Caught the pond's grand slam--bass, crappie, pike, and bream. Slow retreiving jerk baits.

I use to fish the Chowan in the late 70's & early 80's back then 8's & 9's were common. Even won a VBFA tour there in the Holiday Island area [smile]

I've fishd the last two days on a fairly lerge pond/lake deal. caught a few pund to pund and a half fish and a 4 and 5 pounder. All on crankbaits, the fish were all in creek channels except the big fish, whichy were all shallow. Should be some pretty good bed fishing here in a couple weeks.
