The run of American shad at Fletcher's Cove exploded this morning. Anglers took fish up and down the cove on any color and any tackle. Doubles added to the fun. This is the peak we expected after the river finally cleared.
Will it last? There should be several days of great fishing because the heat wave is finally leaving us. Yes, storms tonight and tomorrow morning could cause some trouble. My advice: Drop everything and go fishing.
Congratulations to those of you who rented out all of the Fletcher's rowboats this morning. Good timing! There should be boats available in the afternoon.
IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING THE DROWNING: There is a large police presence at Fletcher's Cove as the search continues for the body of the boy who fell into the Potomac last Sunday. Life preserver regulations are being strictly enforced. Bring your own or wear the rental vests.
