I've just joined the TF and was hoping to gain some info from all of you that are here. I'm new to fishing saltwater fishing and over time will have a lot of questions and make many more mistakes. I'm coming out of Stafford Counting near Quantico. I'm looking to launch somewhere in the Monstross area, maybe westmorland state park. What are you recommendations for launches along the Virginia side of the potomac. Also, looking for any bait shops that you frequent along the same route.
Thanks very much and hope to someday post my fist Striper on this board.

State is good or you can launch at Coles PT marina that is further south. They have a web site. The only bait store I know is in OAK grove (I think??) on the right side of the road past the gas station. Or you can go to mt. Holly (ERICA precisely) and go to Maries store. She has squid, night crawlers, shrimp, and bloodworms.

Welcome Ron. This is a good place to learn, a lot of good fishermen. Westmoreland , Coles Point Plantation are a couple of places. Not sure of any bait stores on the way down but someone will speak up if they know of one. Trolling is in now and bottom fishing will start to pick up soon so you picked a good time to start. Good luck.

Hi Mike, I've picked up a Polar 2100 CC. Its my first CC so, this also will be a learning experience. I've had a 19' runabout and just two springs ago sold my Bayliner 2855 that I had for 7 years. This board has already been an eye opening experience. Thought I new something about fishing - Saltwater fishing is a whole new game.
A friend of mines wife had set a bunch of us up on a fishing trip for his birthday last fall. It was out of Solomons on the Miss Susie. Had a great day. From then on I've been hard thinking about getting into the sport. Wife gave me the go ahead and here I am.
Will be taking a ride down to Green Top to talk with those guys and pick up some tackle. One of the things that I've been doing a lot of reading on is "Boards". A lot of posts here talk about catching fish of the boards. Until about 5 days ago, didn't have a clue what they where talking about.

Take the extra time one day and go to RW's just past Callao on 360, they have all the tackle you can ask for and can give you pointers. It's maybe 15-20 minutes past Coles Point.
