This past week the Spotted Seatrout bite improved dramatically on the northern outer banks. Sound and surf water temps finally rose due to some much needed warm weather and the fish responded. Soundside there were great catches at the inlet, bodie island, little bridge and collington to name a few. Surfside was still a little slow but there were some good catches below avalon, nags head and outer banks piers as recently as this morning. Many more fish were biting as opposed to being foul hooked. Water temp at nags head is 58 which is seven degrees higher than just a couple of days ago. Strong SW winds have halted most of the soundside action but the surf is very fishable. The surf water is dirty but it hasent stopped them from biting. Keeper size puppy drum have been mixed in with the trout at most locations as well. This week should be great everywhere once the winds die down and the water clears up.
