I got this from SOL : More Asian POACHERS.....
There is someone that is charging groups of fisherman 20 dollars per person for a shuttle over to the south inlet jetty wall.. There were around 17 Asian men and women on the jetty fishing to TOG. I could see them catching dozens of fish during my lunch time through a really powerful scope. They were actually catching them and eating them raw on the rocks. The DNR officer that was next to me said that even if he was to make it over to the rocks they would start throwing the fish back in and he could never convict them for anything.. "nothing would stand up in court"
This is just what i observed, There was nothing i could do about it but let others know that this is going on and maybe start the ball rolling for stopping this practice of over fishing....
I have been trying to contact ASSATEAGUE but as i understand the NPS only has any say up to the point where the hump is in the rocks. As far as where they board the island that is still an issue i am trying to talk the NPS about.
The DNR officer said that once they hit the boat they all only had 4 fish per person....
But the fishermen were eating and killing several fish right on the rocks...
I fully understand that the person that is delivering them to the rocks is making a living and I'm all for that. I have no issue with that, but these fishermen are breaking the law!!!!!!!!!
But how do you police such a remote problem...
This is just effed up !:nono:

Mike .....I saw the post too. I know you get out there, have you seen this as well? Also, is he talking oc inlet? I don't remember a wall on the south side....wondering if he might have been referring to Indian River inlet. I got a digital camcorder that has a pretty good zoom....might have to ride down there.
Oops...I see he did mention Assateague so I guess he is talking about oc inlet.

It's at the south jetty . The only way to get there is by boat . Yes , I've seen them . The guy shuttles them out in a pontoon boat . Pisses me off to no end . I know for a fact that they were keeping illegal fish , keeping them alive and selling for big bucks up in Jersey and New York for the live fish trade . I've heard they can get $100.00 per fish and they end up in high priced restaurants swimming in a tank waiting to be eaten .

So Why wouldn't video tape be evidence?
Video the he$$ out of them and then arrest the jerks ........

Is there a licensed Captain operating the pontoon boat? Is the pontoon boat inspected? Perhaps the Coast Guard could investigate.

I saw those people the other week on the south jetty, and wondered about how they got there. Enterprising, shrewd and sneaky all at the same time. I will put forth this,, the marine police officer is not doing his job! If it was you or I we would cited with a ticket, or appearing in front of a judge somewhere. If those people were violating Federal Migratory Game laws, the long arm of the law has the ability to sit 1/2 mile away and identified every duck you shoot and how many you have and where you have them stored. Not only that, but with chronic violators the law has confiscated guns, decoys, boats, pickups, freezers with dressed ducks and anything associated with the crime,, so therefore I say the marine police officer is LAZY!

I'm just waiting for one or more of these a-holes to fall on those rocks and break a leg or even worse , get swept out to sea:yes::thumbup: The south jetty rocks are not flat and nicely arranged like the ones on the north jetty. Very treacherous to say the least.

Mike i saw them out there the other day and they had a little kid like five years old jumping around on those rocks. A buddy of mine that was anchored by the jetty said they saw carcasses and skins floating by all day long. THIS IS REALLY STARTING TO PISS ME OFF!!!!!!!!!

A similar problem is all the boats with Delaware hull numbers that fish the seaside creeks and keep every flounder they pull in. Maybe they think you can tape two together to make them legal.
If you tell F&W that they're eating the plovers, too, you will get them shut down!

A few years ago a mate in Wachapreague said that the Asians were renting boats and clamming. Over catching their limits some were caught, most were not.
A took a few broken car windows to get the message accross to them, while they were out raking clams.

Hey Stump...I like the way you think. They park next to the bathrooms in the west OC ramp lot. I saw around 20 of them on the south tip on Sunday just raping the tog...The DNR boat was right there, but like Mike said, they just ditch the fish if he tries to approach them as the openly break the law...Looks like it may be up to the us to handle this mess:yes:

My aim is deadly:yes: Forget bucktails . Why waste a a good bucktail ? A pyramid sinker is cheaper and will do all the damage you need .:D

This is a quote from a friend of mine. I personally watched tautog carcasses and skins float by my boat all day while they were there and I was fishing the jetty last saturday. These rocks are extremely slippery and dangerous and they have small children running around on them. It is not fair that I get stopped by DNR officers everytime I go out on my boat and I have NEVER kept and undersized fish or more than my limit yet these people do it everyday and "there is nothing you can do about it?" Not only that, but I highly doubt that the person who is shuttling these people over there (he is charging them money) has a Captain's license or any of the required safety equipment to operate a charter vessel. Because if he is charging, then by law he must have his captain's license, the proper insurance, and all the required safety gear. This is getting ridiculous. I see DNR patrolling the inlet all the time but they never go near the south Jetty. Why can't they just anchor up next to the rocks with a video camera or digital camera? These complaints are all over the internet and it's starting to seem like that if DNR doesn't do something about it, the local fisherman are and this would not be good for any of us. Thank you for your time.

This is my first post. It is ashame that it has to be related to poaching. Just burned a nastygram to DNR about that problem. It has been going on for far too long with zero enforcement. It does not matter if it is not worth DNR time, the laws should be enforced!

Well said. If enough of us keep bitching about it to DNR, and don't worry I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind when they stop me to check out all of my LEGAL flounder and tog, maybe something will get done. This has been going on for too many years. 10 years ago nobody even fished for tog in the bay. Now they're on every rock and bulkhead in 21842 keeping everything and anything they catch.

I will send an email. i saw all those people on the south jetty at about 10am sunday. I too wondered how the he$$ they got there since i didnt see any boats on the beach in the bay area. there had to have been more then 17. i saw someone in a World Cat anchored near the south jetty. some guy in a carolina skiff moving up and down the south jetty too. I am guessing the world cat was someone from here. Let us know if there is anything else we can do.

It seems to me you guys could find out who owns the boat. If he is transporting illegal fish he is committing a crime too. The guy shuttling them over is the problem eliminate the problem!
Maybe I’m just stupid but if the DNR just waited down the road a bit they could pull over anyone suspected of fishing illegally. Then to really put a stamp on things you confiscate their vehicles until after the hearing. Also like a said earlier taker the boat from the guy who is the root of the problem. Maybe some crazy fisherman might even bust his windshield.
