I'll be down in Hilton Head starting the 15th. I've already booked a trip with Dan Utley and I'm psyched. I've never been to HH.

My question is: Are there any areas on the shore to fish with my 3 yr old son? Not looking for big fish just something. (A lot of small ones is better than 1 big one). Creeks, canals, piers etc. we'll be staying on the beach but I'm willing to drive. Any surf fishing?

Thanks for your help.
Mike

Where will you be staying in Hilton Head? You can fish from shore at Shelter Harbor - on the Disney side of the harbor. I have caught flounder, bluefish and redfish from there. I have had the best luck with a jig and squid strip, although everyone there recommends a jig and bass assasin in electric chicken color. Also, there is a canal that runs around the island. There is access by going oward Palmento dunes. You can actually rent canoes a shop there right on the canal.

Good luck.

If you are staying in Sea Pines, try the ponds around the golf courses. I go every August and have caught a lot of reds as well as a few flounder and ladyfish. Every year I hear of juvenile Tarpon being caught in these ponds, but I not seen one yet. Gold spoons work the best on the reds. For the ladyfish try any small spoon, the ones I have caught were small but my 4 year son had a blast last year catching them. Let us know how the charter goes, I am interested in a trip this August.
