Gene and I fished Weldon on Monday. Water was perfect for striper spawning (upper 60's) as we saw numerous rock-fights on the surface and fish were stacked up from bank to bank. We floated around the big rock and caught 66 stripers by noon when we ran out of bait. This year I decided to accept the fact that I would catch mostly small fish, so I decided to fish 8lb test on an ultra-light spinning rod. I had a blast, with numerous reel screams as they would dive back to the bottom after seeing the boat. We also got to see the WRC shock up numerous LARGE females. It was very exciting to watch even if we couldn’t manage to catch any of the big ones ourselves. I got some video footage of the WRC boat shocking up fish in one hole and a WRC officer holding up a real nice pig on video. I will try to upload onto YouTube soon...I'll post a link when I get it done.
