Poquoson/Drum Island Flats

Just wondering if the blues are schooled up on the flats yet. Years ago we used to go in there with top water plugs and have a blast. I'm thinking about taking some friends out to give it a try......just don't want to make the trip across the bay if they're not there.

I tried it last Sat afternoon for a coupla hours.....no nibbles.....didn't see much bait either....water was warm enough at 68......may try again Tue afternoon after VT alumni golf outing

Those nice blues haven't been a prevalent the past several years. Usually some tailers, but nothing to write home about.

wait til the salinity gets back up. It's reeeeeeeeealy fresh and turbid in there right now.

The water is pretty brown from all of the rain. I saw a few big schools of minnows and quite a few of the little green gars swimming around. I also saw the first cowfish of the season. Good luck to you when you go.
