When can I expect to be able to buy local (MD) soft crabs? If anyone on here sells them live, post your number. I usually get mine down at Danny's crabs on ragged point rd, Cambridge. But I'm starting to get tired of the drive from Harford County for a couple of dozen crabs.

I'm also looking for a reliable contact, with reasonable prices for hard crabs

I usually catch my own crabs for steamin', but, I'm in dry dock due to an injury and little to no chance of me hitting the water this year.

Thanks,
Joe

Bill's Seafood, on Belair Rd, North of Joppa Rd. had a good supply last year, at prices lower than I've seen them in years. He's been a straight shooter with me, and others I've sent his way too, plus he's been there for over twenty years.....for a reason !

Thanks for the replies. I was looking to get them straight from a crabber, live, I've never had good luck buying them already cleaned and frozen. The place I get them in cambridge has a bunch of sloughing tanks, which are checked every 2 hours 24/7. I've never got a tough crab from him and prices have always been more than fair. Because of the drive, I tend to keep putting it off and end up not going as much as I would like to.

When I buy hard crabs, the occassional soft crab and just about all my seafood, I deal with The Seafood Stop on Belair Rd. I've dealt with them way back when they were the Crab Truck. There are just getting a little too big and I think their prices are starting to show it and sometimes. so does the quality and service. I like dealing with the crabber when I can, It tends to work out better for all parties involved.

Thanks,

Joe

I spoke to Richard at Coveside today. He told he should have soft crabs about June !st. He explained that he has the tanks right there and only sells live crabs. I guess I'll be down to see him in a couple weeks.

When I told him where I got his name from, he asked who posted it, Stingray or RJ.

Thanks,
Joe

Bill's Seafood has them both ways..........I get mine live, and clean them myself No Big deal,..............I always check them before I pay to make sure they're all soft too !
Plus they have probably the best fried oysters anywhere.

I agree the Seafood Stop has outgrown where they started..........fair prices, good stuff.
