Thanks guys! Question - can the On/Off be used on a painted surface? I've seen reviews that state it works great on the "Hull" but not sure what it will do to a painted fiberglass surface.

After you rinse and while wet, sprinkel on some Baking Soda and brush again then rinse. The Baking Soda will neturlize any left over chemicals
Good Luck

Use straight bleach (undiluted)...just brush it on and let it do it's job....looks like that might be mold.?....garaunteed to work! and it's cheap.

Barkeeper's Friend for stains of good old Clorox doesn't work. Teak stains- Acetone works.

Interlux makes a stain remover in gel form. It works great on gelcoat, not sure if it is suitable for paint. I use it on the hull near the waterline to remove staining that accumulates throughout the year and it makes the gelcoat look like new. I believe it is a form of oxycalic (spelling?) acid.

How about another can of paint? That works for me and much easier than all that scrubbing!

That will be our last option, we spent about an hour getting it to the condition in the pic! We used Greased Lightning, Vinegar and a stiff brush,it's some stubborn staining! TSP and bleach will be the next options, if that doesn't work we will have to repaint.

I use Greased Lightning on our Maycraft in that same spot. It just seems to stay dirty there.

Interlux 202 is what you need for all the above listed stains...a little goes a long way. Make sure you that you test what you are cleaning first. I use it on all tough stains that the normal assortment of abrasives won't clean.

Just did my boat Saturday, it looked pretty much the same. It was on the the deck, hatch covers and white rod holders. I used "Lysol Mildew Remover with Bleach". When used in direct sunlight the scum & mildew ran right off without scrubbing. In the shaded areas I had to use a stiff brush then rinse.

Doug,

CLR is sold in a powdered form at places like Walmart. The powdered form lasts a long time, you can mix up your own solution when you need it and it takes out most stains including rust, mildew stains calcium build up, etc...

It contains the same ingredients as On/Off.

Clorax Cleaner in the white and green container. I have the same problem with the pollen stains on my boat. The best way to clean it is to wait until its going to rain. Spray surface of boat about 2 hrs or more before the rain comes. I will clean it like new. Places under the top that don't get the rain will not clean. One other way is to spray it down with the Clorax Cleaner and wait about 2 hrs. Then take a stiff brush and get on your knees and scrub. I will take all the stain out. I have to do this every year.
