Here I am in Victor, Iowa visiting very good friends.
Also while here I'm paying my respects to a departed navy buddy's grave while visiting his family.
I was invited by my navy buddy's brother to go fresh water :fishing2: today in the Iowa river before I had to leave for Norfolk tomorrow.Could not pass that up.
He picked me up at 9:30 AM with his truck towing a 16' john boat with a small mercury engine on it.
We launch at a concrete launching ramp which the
county had recently put in and headed up river.
He picked out a spot on a bank where we tied up to a overhead branch. Using small rods with 20 lb mono on the reel and about a #2 hook we started fishing using night crawlers.
To make this short I did get to catch (8) 2-3 lb Catfish and (4) 3-4 lb Carp.
The catfish was deep fried (chunked up) by my friend at his house and it was delicious. It had been over 50 some years since I had last tasted catfish.
Great weather and a great time doing some different kind of fishing.:clapping2:
