Has anyone been out Seabass fishing at DB Bouy yet and spotted any Threshers?
Looking to make my first trip out this season with my son on our annual quest to land a few Threshers.
I was out at DB 2 weeks ago and the water temps were still a little chilly for them

Last year the first Threshers were caught off OC in late May- near Jackspot.
I would guess it will be 2 weeks or so before they show up near the bouys.

I talked to Mark Sampson last night and he said that it will be around the 1st week of June before the Threshers show in any numbers. Mark has his boat "Fish Finder" at the OC fishing center and is one of the best shark fishermen around. If you want sharks, give him a call.......Gary

I know Mark is a great shark fisherman. I fished the OC Shark Tourney 6 out of the last 10 years. Marty Moran on tghe Memory Maker (now Marlin Magic), taught me everything I know and I have been targeting Threshers on my 25ft for the last 5 years out of IRI.
Last year they showed up early May but the water was warmer last year in May than this year.
Didnt see any this weekend but Ill keep trying

We weighed the first thresher last year in Delaware first week in June, but a friend was hooking them up in late April. They are there now. I've seen proof.

I'll never forget the first (and last) one I hooked off OC while Mako fishing, the line took off,I reared back then saw this big sickle tail swimming away directly away ad along side the line that looked like chessie coming out of the water then splash down on the leader slicing just past the 11ft.steel leader at the mono behind it.These guys can beat you to death with their tail so be careful. They feed mostly on schools of small fish by stunning them with their tails by swatting them while on the surface then eating the stunned fish in the schools. If anyone needs a Deckhand HO,let me know.I have Shark rods, belts & flying gaff.
