Go to the settings and check to make sure everything matches what the cox website says you need. check to see whether you need to enable ssl or not. I do not have Cox but an email server is an email server. I have not found one that I couldn't use the mail client on the iphone to check.

No SSL
I have set it up for many people.
The POP and SMTP setting are correct. May just be a cox outage...Happens somewhat frequently. Other than verifying your password you may just have to wait.

You can try this... Smtp cwmx.cox

I think what you have will work also. I takes a while to start working properly. You will have to turn the wifi off to send email out.

Go to Google and click on Gmail and get a free Gmail account. Gmail has a free mobile app you can download on your phone. Then from you home computer, go into your Cox account and have you email forwarded to your Gmail account. Works like a champ!!

I was told by the girl at at&t that cox would not work and to use Gmail and cox together.

I was undetered and set up cox anyway, and it worked. It stopped working after I sync'd up with itunes the first time. I deleted the cox account on the phone and set it up again and after 2 days no problem.

Thanks

Anyone know of cool app's for fishing.

the tide app is great, but the latest update crashed it and im awaiting the fix, you pull tides from anywhere in the US, see charts, etc. the weather channel app is pretty good, too for forecasts and whatnot. I wish there was an app for fish limits, sizes, and citation size, hey Chumlord, you should write one, i know you are mac savvy.

There are some fishing games like iFishingLite (free) and Flick Fishing. Also iFishingKnots and Knot Time which I think had a fee. Also used Files lite which lets you transfer Window Docs or PDF files to the iPhone. I have all the 2009 fishing regs for MD, VA and Potomac River.

There is not an APP for fishing regs, I save them to my computer by copy/paste to a word document and then use the APP Files Lite and that APP lets you network the iPhone to your home computer and you can then transfer your word docs or PDF files of the fishing regs to the iPhone or iPod Touch. Another way you could do it would be to print out the regs, then if you have access to a scanner, is to scan the regs as a picture file and then when you sync your iPhone or iPod Touch to computer the pictures with the regs would be in the pictures folder on the iPhone.

When I had cox and set it up on my palm treo, the incoming mail settings for cox worked just fine but cox does not like using it's settings for outgoing mail while not on the cox cable network. What you have to do is find the smtp outgoing mail server settings for ATT and use those to send email.

I am waiting for when verizon picks up the iphone as verizon is still king for reception on the water and I want to keep my ability to talk on the water all the way out to the CLT and behond.
