Fished Early Saturday and Sunday morning at Ocean View Pier 6am-3pm.
Saturday tossed out some nice fresh bunker with others on the pier and we began to have the Cow-Nose Ray fest on the outgoing tide. Slack tide hit and it was pretty slow for awhile. After the tide switched, we were all getting some sun and taking it easy, when a kid said "Hey Daddy what's that?". We looked over the side of the pier at the end and there she was......A healthy looking Brown suit at an estimated 50+ pounds strolling on top of the water. By the time we scrambled to get a bait on her, she was gone below. Not much the rest of the day.
Sunday was almost an exact repeat, except two scattered blues and a thin 17" flounder. The Cow Nose shuffle started up again with a few southern stingray in the mix as well. One guy did manage to land a small cobia pup early in the day, but that was all she wrote.
Crabs were terrible both days and bait checks were frequent. Others on the pier using BWFB and squid were catching small spot, croaker and flounder. Marine Officer showed up and checked coolers as well which was nice to see.
All in all two nice days fishing with the fellas! [grin]
Out till this weekend.......
