Fished Early Saturday and Sunday morning at Ocean View Pier 6am-3pm.

Saturday tossed out some nice fresh bunker with others on the pier and we began to have the Cow-Nose Ray fest on the outgoing tide. Slack tide hit and it was pretty slow for awhile. After the tide switched, we were all getting some sun and taking it easy, when a kid said "Hey Daddy what's that?". We looked over the side of the pier at the end and there she was......A healthy looking Brown suit at an estimated 50+ pounds strolling on top of the water. By the time we scrambled to get a bait on her, she was gone below. Not much the rest of the day.

Sunday was almost an exact repeat, except two scattered blues and a thin 17" flounder. The Cow Nose shuffle started up again with a few southern stingray in the mix as well. One guy did manage to land a small cobia pup early in the day, but that was all she wrote.

Crabs were terrible both days and bait checks were frequent. Others on the pier using BWFB and squid were catching small spot, croaker and flounder. Marine Officer showed up and checked coolers as well which was nice to see.

All in all two nice days fishing with the fellas! [grin]

Out till this weekend.......

Thanks for the report ! And like it or not, I suspect yall will be seeing more boatless beach fishing reports from us here in the future.

FYI on Oceanview pier, OVP is a new pier/a recently built replacement of the old Harrison's pier that was wiped out by hurricane Isabel in 2003 located in Norfolk, VA just east of the HRBT (Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel).

Thanks for the report, a shame someone couldn't have gotten a "close up" with the brown suit [sad].

Fished Little Bay this past weekend at 10th view,
friend and his girl told me they seen a shark, borwn
dorsal with a black tip.
Could this have been Mr. Cobia?

If they are new to surf fishing, they saw their very first cow nose ray. Course if your friends are experienced disregard my comment.

That's what I told them, but they insist it was
a dorsal fin and that it stayed on top of the water
for about 30 yards before resubmerging.
I stared at the water the whole time I was there,
saw nothing.
