OBX Pompano

I will be in Rodanthe for the 4th. Any suggestions on how to catch Pompano from the surf?

I have heard they like sandfleas. What type of rigw would be used? Do they feed better between a sandbar and the beach or on the back side of the bar?

I will post on my results.

Sandfleas would be the preferred choice!

They also like BWFB and small pieces of shrimp.

Don't cast out too far as they are usually up close in the wash!

The bite was slow. Only a few croaker and sea mullet as a result. The kids where happy though. Used sand fleas inside the break. Didn't see much of anything cought.

Fished Rodanthe, Avon and ocracoke. Usally worked out that I cought the middle of the incomming and the middle of the outgoing tide.
