Well the day started a little slow trying to catch bait but finally managed about 50-60 good size herring. The fishing also started out a little slow with just a couple pull downs. Called my man Teacher and Adam to see if they were on the lake and decided to head towards them. Asked them how they were doing and like always they told me they were on some fish.

So whats a guy to do but put out some lines. Ended up catching 11 stripers and 1 little catfish. The stripers were average of 5-6 lbs to start and a 9 lb striper mixed in. Was talking to some folks on a pontoon boat when all of a sudden a downline rod gets slammed. Pulled in a nice 13 lb / 28" beautiful striper. Called it a day after that one and headed to the house.

I really pride myself on finding my own fish most days but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and thats find the Teacher and ask him and his son where the fish are. haha. Thx for putting me on some fish Teach/Adam.

Hi RipandDrag,

Wow, did I miss the boat by not giving Teacher a shout. I filled up with Bobcat's SS minnows and headed back to Eastland Creek where I had great success earlier. That was afternoon fishing and I understand the bite changed to morning. Sure didn't see the long lines of bait and blues/stripers from earlier. Lots of boat traffic on Sunday with jet skis, tubes, causing heavy swells to keep the boat rocking uncomfortably. Caught two small blues for an afternoon's effort. Grandkids satisfied themselves with catching bait in the tank and bringing it to the adults to bait the hooks. I'm advised that the stripers don't move all that far, but they sure do hide somewhere!

Called it a day and motored to Butcher to see if Teacher/Adam were in the area. Only a few boats in the mouth and several with downriggers trolling mid channel. Saw quite a few boats milling at the Cow Pasture, but didn't go close enough to observe what was happening.

Maybe Tue or Wed will be a good day to take a look at Occaneechee. Just when I think the water should be clearing up a bit, more rain . . . Eastland is an hour from here, while Occ and Rudd are only a half hour over pretty decent roads. Did I read right that Teacher says "Sit tight and the fish will come"? :)

Yet, it was a great holiday with family this year. Hope everyone had a great day of family and remembrance.

Regards, Joy

Joy,

For me everything was caught on main lake points. Good luck.
