Our plan is set and the gear is all ready. The crew is assembled and already restless. So which of us is gonna pop the first mako out of Ocean City MD? Good luck to all who try, but it's gonna be me. If not then I'm buying whoever it is a beer and giving them the bragging rights for the entire season! So good luck and be safe out there. If ya see me coming get the heck out of my spot!

We plan to go out overnight Sunday. I'm 99.9% sure there will be some Makos landed so we will not get the first one but if we do it just right though - we could get the first Mako in June :D.

Hook up on Sunday night ( May 31st) at 11:30 pm and land it Monday (June 1st) at 12:15 am .

Good luck - look forward to your post/pictures.

We all need something to shoot for. I'm trying to beat the Marli's beast of a few years ago. What was that one something like 3x bigger.

You just know Capt. Billy is looking down from heaven laughing at us messing with these " tiny " Makos.

No doubt about it. I sure wish we had the resources to do those long range overnighters he would run. There are some big makos way way out there. MY good buddy whent to highschool with Capt. Billy and we fished with him a few times.

Without a doubt a fine man. We had a trip booked but it got cancelled due to rough seas. I was worried because he did not like cursing on his boat - for me that would be tough.

One night I was out in 100 fathoms in Poormans and heard Billy on the VHF giving another boat his location. I wrote the numbers down - he was off my chart - way back past Baltimore canyon - crazy deep.

My boat can go out there but no fuel to come back :D. My safe limit is about 75 miles.

I'd need a battlewagon to feel comfortable out that far.

I'm so jealous of you guys being able to get out and fish the way you do. Be sure to take lots of pics and post them here so that the rest of us can live vicariously through your report!

Hopefully there will be some :bigfish: caught.

If it is 3x bigger that was a big fish. I would like to win press times check from the tuna tourney a few years ago $352,000 is a nice payout. Also 2nd place blue marlin last year at the wmo. Glad to see a good friend doing well.

9am this morning first mako in the boat! Just rat so he swam away but atleast it was a mako! I didn't hear of any other caught out of OC today but I'm sure someone else had to get one. We also weeded through tons of bluesharks, and saw a white shark that was so big I don't even believe my own eyes. Also saw a pack of blueinf moving up the 20 line. Pics coming when out crew emails them to me.
