Fished with Capt. Jim Bowman aboard the Marlin Mania 5/28..The trip to
say the least was fantastic! We had 20 gaffer dolfins and a 350lb.+ Blue Marlin
caught by yours truely, Capt.Skid..The wx was almost perfect as well as the fishing.
Our crew consisted of- Bob Ruth ( this guy is a real piece of work) Ronnie Marko,
Jim Collins, Gary Bailey(first timer, did good,)and myself..Action started at 6:30 and
was off & On until about 1 pm when things slowed down to almost a stop. I hooked up with the Blue about 2 pm, and had him at the boat for a release about 15 minutes later!!! After the initial hook-up with a short ariel show, he plowed deep and never stripped anymore
line off..Came to the boat fairly easy!, this was a surprise to me because a few years back we had one on that Capt.Jim est. at 500+ and he almost killed the man in the chair with a 2 1/2 hour battle, which also ended in a successful release.. The Blue Marlin was my
first and a long awaited prize. The history that led up to this fish is a very emotional story
that includes the loss of my son, and best friend in June of 07. He wanted sooo much to
nab a Marlin, but it wasn`t meant to be..I think he had a hand in sending this fish to me and also the wx was much, much better than forecasted..You just never know what powers
may have been at work this day.... I`ve been fishing with Jim Bowman over 20 yrs. and
highly recommend him..Need more info on Jim, drop me a message..
