short day fishing

i will be making a trip to Charleston Memorial weekend, unfortunately to see a very sick relative.
i might get a chance to wet a line for a few hours from shore.

any suggestions?
i fish regularly on the chesapeake bay & tributaries but have not experience in your area.

i was thinking of going to the cut between Folly Beach & Isle of Palms, any good there?
