Started the weekend with Wally and Chip chasing spades Saturday. Had to find some elbow room at our destination and when the tide was right Chip starting slaying the biggest spades of his life. Wally hooked up his first spade ever. Nice work. Congrats. Ran back to our drum hole, saw a couple reds being caught, but no blacks. Nada. Drumless for that evening. Sunday I hooked up with Steve the Drumslayer and Dave the Snooker. Drum was on the agenda for the whole day and so a drummin we went. Tried for reds in the morning, no luck whatsoever in the daylight. Ran to 13, no luck for anything there either. Last spot at dusk we caught one black each. Dave had his first black drum ever. Congrats Dave. Steve had his fish of course. And me.... I had the biggest fish of the night (Roland Martin School of Photography).....
and if you believe that I got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn where I was born.
Today's trip was cancelled. Damn wind!!!!
Good Fishin Anyway

Great report. 55 inch black is a huge one. I wonder how many potential state records have been caught and released.

Well Steve we we're talking about how the rough seas seem to follow you. The ride out to the CLT wasn't bad and it laid down for the afternoon ride over to Fishermans Isl. The bite followed tide around the tower and after our turn at the spades we headed for the drum. The reds were all around as we seen several boats with multiple hookups but no joy for us. Even after we moved to the breakers the boats on both sides of us were hooked up on the reds but it just wasn't meant to be. Looks like Sunday was the day for the drum. Those are some nice looking blacks. Hope tomorrow will be right for the cobes. And I'll make sure to wear the hat. Nice to meet you Chip and I'm sure we'll hook up again soon.

Good report Mike. To bad the wind got us yesterday. I ended up catching a bunch of crappie and gills on light tackle and a beetle spin on a lake near my house. So I somewhat salvadge the fishing day but I would have much rather had a big ole drum on the end of my line.
