Things came together to make a run offshore on Tuesday. A last minute crew of Gary, Ian and myself. Cleared OI around 540 and headed SE and put lines in at the 410 in 50fa along a nice break and weedline. We trolled North for a while and there wasn't much life so we made a move NE and found another weedline in some warmer water just overboard in 120fa and it was full of life...fliers everywhere, porpoises, etc. I'm putting the right long out (blue/white witch) and a really nice gaffer shoots out from the weed line and smashes the bait...the reel was still in freespool and nearly had a big mess. Got the drag engaged and hooked him up!! Ended up being a 25lb gaffer. Troll NE for a couple miles and the weedline broke up so we circled back around just south of where we started and immediately had a double (left flat & short - blue/white & blue/pink witches) on gaffers and got 'em both. The area was still teeming with life and i'm thinking we're getting ready to get covered up, but it wasn't to be...The weedline was breaking up and we never found another bite. Headed back inshore and tried a new deep drop spot with no luck so we called it a day around 245.
