Had to make one more run for some stripers. Fished Saturday afternoon late and watched the boat rodeo around the Corrotoman mouth and decided to pull over to the side in the shallow water and caught 1/2 dozen spot. Around 5:00 pm everyone seemed to head in and the bridge area was clear. Water flattened out too. We had never tried live lining for striper before so we headed over to the Norris bridge and it wasn't 20 seconds into the drop and the first spot was going crazy. First striper in the boat. Second spot down, second striper and so on. It was a blast, just wished we'd caught a few more spot! All fish were school size and the largest was 26 inches. Pulled in 5 and lost 1. Good eating size.

I was out there at around 4:00 and had my one spot and two 7" croaker all bitten clean in half with one bite each. Slashing bluefish I suppose.

Great way to end the day! How you guys rig your live spot?
Hook thru the lips or in the dorsal area....1 or 2 hooks etc.?
Thanks. Mike

Single hook through the lips and a weight to get them on the bottom. Use a 3-way. We kept the rig just off the bottom. Glad we didn't have the bluefish issue mentioned.

Where were you fishing on the bridge? Thanks in advance

North side of the river in 25'. Bait hooked through the roof of the mouth and out through the nose. Some people like to clip a fin for erratic swimming. PETA must love that.

We were in deeper water towards the center of the bridge. Make sure the tide is moving. We hooked them in front and back of the pilings.

I use the hook in lip method myself. Tried it for the first time last year. I'm sure it would have worked, but I was early, and the blue fish had a fields day biting my bait in half:soapbox:

That sounds like fun! I might have to give it a try this weekend
before the Season ends.
