Filled the boat with HO's from my earlier post, launched at OI little after 5am, headed SE to the point, not much going on went first 0 for 3 on short strikes, bit clean off behind the hooks. Fished the point area in weed patches and 73-78 temp break with no love.

About 11 ran NE and found another break 74-78 with scattered grass and about 60-80 boats working it with no luck again.

I guessed about 3 it would clear out, as all the charters had to run in, there were thunder storms threatening and we were right! about 3 pm we had the area to ourselves except the commercial green sticks showed up with the same plan as us I guess (wait for the pressure to disappear)

Got a tip from Kevin on the Succession and started hooking up, went 3 for 3 on gaffers, a skipjack and a sail in about an hour. The sail shook me twice and we never got him hooked solid, he came up on the teaser I dropped to him and hooked him, but one jump and a shake and he was off. Then he went to the left long, same thing I dropped back hooked him, one jump and a shake and gone, he came over to right flat naked, stripped the ballyhoo and vanished, fun none the less.

Got back to OI at 7pm from our 14 hours on the water.

Way to stick it out guys. We fished the same areas and had similar results. I saw what fish might have once been was run down by the fleet pounding over them. I headed North tward the Tuna Hole and picked up a fat YFT at a small break from 72-70F. We caught falsies all day. They kept hitting my planer making it a real chore to get rid of them and some times they didn't hit hard enough to trip the planer so they got dragged to death. Picked up one more YFT and that was our day but we headed in by 3:15PM so I wouldn't fall asleep on the ride home to VA. Nice Mahi by the way. Glad you guy found a few to bring home. Martin

Good fishing with out there. I would bet you more than one saildog back there. Glad the tip worked out for you. We got lucky and got areal nice catch of Yellow Bellies and right many skippies.
