Made my first of the year trip out out to DB buoy on Sunday. Was foggy most of day, except for about 2 hours. Had to wait to about 8:30AM in the inlet before attempting to go out into the ocean. No radar on my 20 ft boat. Got about half way to DB buoy and hit the wall of fog again. Decided to sit about another 45 minutes, hoping fog will continue to lighten up. I couldn't wait any longer and made a slow trip in the thick fog for the next 5 miles to DB buoy.
I've done the trip to DB buoy over 100 times with about dozen times in fog over the years. So I couldn't let a little fog stop me from fishing. The fog did lift for a few hours, but only to return at about 1:30PM for the trip back in at 2:30PM.
As for fishing, me and the wife ended up catching about 50 short seabass, 2 keeper seabass and 1 keeper flounder (21"). The only flounder caught. Caught most of the seabass using claims and also caught the flounder on a claim bait.
