I got a call about 1pm from Billy (Striper_On) to fish with him and Capt. Kevin (surfperch1).
We met at Crab Creek and headed out into the Bay in search of Cobia. We checked all the marker buoys with no luck. We found a tide line out in the Bay Oceanside and slowly followed it for several miles towards the CBBT.
It was full of life. Bait fish of all types, Blues, Turtles, Etc; It also had HUGE Trigger fish in it.
We tossed a Gulp Crab at them with no luck. We did spot one big Cobia cruising by but by the time we turned the boat around he was gone. We had a couple of smaller ones cruise by a few minutes later. We then made it over to the Bay side of the CBBT.
There were many boats there on the prowl. Ben cruised up and as we were bullcrapping Kevin spotted a couple of Cobia coming right at us. The fish came in between the boats which were about 10ft apart. Kevin and Ben both cast out Eels and the bigger of the two Cobia hit Ben's bait.
Ben had a charter on board and he was thrilled. The fish was going to to be his first citation if he landed it. He did ! Nice job JP.
Well we kept cruising around and ran into 1 more Cobia but he would not take the bait.
So no Cobia for us today but it was an OUTSTANDING day on the water. The weather was perfect and the seas were calm and the Bud was cold.:))
Capt. Ben with his charter and first mate.
