I want to try fishing the Bay Bridge next week in the evening. Never fished with my kyak in that area. Need some insight on where to launch my kyak, particular spots to try, bait or just anything you'll can recommend.

i like launching from the boat ramp better than the beach. BW, plastics or jigs pick a piling and see what bites:fishing2:

I second the boat ramp - no sand and you can paddle under the bridge and avoid some of the boat traffic. Just avoid the SPSP this sunday - June 14. They have the Great bay swim from sandy point state park under the bridge to Hemingway's Marina. It will be a nightmare at the park and restricted boat traffic.

Also, if you haven't seen this yet:
Light Tackle Techniques for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Shawn Kimbro (http://www.lighttacklechesapeake.com/Fishing_the_Bay_Bridge.html)
It's a great read on fishing the bridge by Shawn Kimbro.

Thanks for the feed back. Which boat ramp is the best to launch from?

I agree with Jastos - Shawn's tutorial is spot-on and well written. I actually prefer launching from Hemingway's.

Made a spur of the moment trip to the east side of the Bay bridge this morning.
Arrived pre-dawn in a light shower, which passed, fortunately. Got on the water at first light and worked my way out a quarter mile where I caught my first 3 fish- a short and a couple in the low 20's. One had quite a few myco lesions. I looked back toward shore for my friend Jim who was late in arriving and saw a grey kayak. This turned out to be John (HawgChaser) who started this thread. He has a Hobie ProAngler- quite a lot of boat!
My friend Jim showed up and we continued to work our way out on the pilings. I caught 4 more fish, one short and 3 legal-sized and I kept the biggest, a 30" fish (sorry, no photo; Jim & John can be my witnesses). I made it as far as mid-bay and the wind started to kick up, so I headed back east. Jim and I fished fruitlessly all the way back- no surprise as it was a slack tide. Got off the water around 10:30 & chatted with John who was taking a break before going back out to wait for the outgoing tide to get rolling. Hope you gottem, John.
Can't figure out why there aren't many fish of any kind along the bridge yet. Usually there's lots of schoolie bass and perch. If it's a salinity thing, there doesn't seem to be any break in sight as we are forecast for more rain.
