I started my work day this morning at 0400 hrs, stopped at Pop's Bait & Tackle on Armstead Ave in Hampton at 0530 and picked up some clams and eels before heading to Va. Beach. I finished working at 0930hrs, dropped the jet ski in at Owls Creek and arrived at CLT around 1030 hrs. There was less than a dozen boats and the bite was slow at first . Around 1200 the bite picked and I saw several fish caught, I caught one on fresh clam and speared two others. The water visibility was poor at 8-10 ft. I met Mark, another Jet Ski Fisherman for the second time and told him he needs to put some rod holders on his Yamaha. He seemed to be having a good time drifting around the tower for Spades. I headed back in to Rudee Inlet at 1330 hrs with plans of going back out of Lynhaven to run around and look for some cobia. Unfortunatley I had a couple calls come up so I passed on cobia for today. Had another great day on and in the water.

Thanks for the report, Brian. Are the bigger Spades still held up inside the tower & down deep? It's been a couple of weeks since I shot them out there.

Saw you out there yesterday Brian. I was on the Green Catamaran (LSC-2), diving on a couple of the wrecks out there. I told my buddies about your fishing rig and they didnt believe me. Take care and as usual, great pics.

Nice pics. & trip Brian.For those of you considering a jet ski.I really wanted t get one,mostly for evening Striper fishing on the upper bay.I called a dealer about a 3 seater and asked how come I don't see any navication lights on them?Well,unfortunately,you're not allowed to run these after sunset by coast guard regs.This wouldn't work for me fishing after sunset,then making the run back in.

Brian,

Great report and pix (as usual):clapping2:

I just wish I was younger and healthier to be out there with you on a jet ski....:D

I have a question????

What, if anything, do you see as shortcomings to your style of fishing???

What would you do differently if you started over from scratch?

Doug, A couple of the drawbacks to Jet Ski Fishing are ;

Being exposed to the elements, sun, wind, rain, cold.
Limited range.
Limited storage.
Range is only 80-100 miles.
Can not stretch out and take a nap when the fishing is slow.
Can only troll two lines at a time.

There is not a lot that I would do over that I have'nt already done;

Added GPS/ Fishfinder.
VHF.
Deep Cycle Battery.
Rod Holders.
Cooler and Rack.
Navigation Lights--for safety sake since you are not supposed to go out at night.

I am getting ready to have some more modifications done to my Waverunner that I will share when it is done.

Overall I fell that there are more pros than cons to Jet Ski Fishing, Such as ;

Good fuel economy.
Get into shallow water and tight spaces.
Exposed to the elements, which I like.
Easy to launch and tow.
Quick clean up.
It is fun.

With a few simple modifications I was able to turn my PWC into a fishing machine.

Once again great pics. We are having a photo contest to win free apparel. I can't put the URL up here but if you PM me I will give it to you or you can just look us up. I am also interested in speaking with you about some possible sponsorship opportunities. Ever think of fishing a tournament on that ski?
