Fished in the RB area today and got into a really nice bunch of perch. I caught many more keepers than throwbacks including a couple that measured out at 11". There are some good quality perch in the river this weekend...!

Scott -

On Sat morning, I ran the entire length of the Severn (from just beyond Greenbury Pt, where is was a bit rough for my shallow-freeboard boat to upstream of Indian Landing until the water reached a depth of less than 1 ft). In the most upstream mile, the water was very brown with almost no visibility. Just above Indian Landing Marina, the river widens out to almost a large pond. I had to turn off my outboard and go to the trolling motor to move around there. I trolled a silver spoon and a beetle spin all around the edges. I felt a couple of bumps but had no hookups. I saw quite a few mud boils and fish pressure wakes in this shallow area, which I attributed to carp, but saw no actual fish.

During most of the ride back down the river to Truxton Park I saw intermittent fish splashes at the surface. I also saw many pods of minnows rippling the surface. Once the rain lets up for a few days and the sediment can settle to the bottom, things look decent for some good fishing.

My entire trip was 30 miles -- and eat your hearts out big-engine owners. I used less than 2 gallons of gas in my 9.9 -hp 4-stroke.

My son Peter and I found a nice steady pick of frisky palm size spot this afternoon west of Round Bay. Numerous doubles on bloodworms. The artificial stuff was useless! If anyone is interested in this location just email me but unfortunately it's almost six miles west of the rt.50 bridge so not convenient for most guys.
