#4 hooks (I use red hooks but don't have any proof that they catch more), 1/4 oz. egg sinker on the main line above the swivel.
All rods rigged the same, but we put out two on bobbers and let them drift back away from the boat. Then, we each cast an identical rig (less the bobber, of course) and let the bait slowly sink.
Seems to be a 50/50 split on fish caught under the bobber and fish caught casting.
As for line weight, I'm going to have to up everything to PowerPro (I use 80lb for everything; since it's so thin I haven't found any reason to use a smaller size). On Saturday we broke off one fish for every one caught on 12 & 17 lb. mono rigs. Spades are very powerful anyway, but they are running so huge at the light tower this year that the tackle that worked for me in the past is getting broken off.
We're amateurs... if someone else give you better advice, TAKE IT!
Best of luck to you. It sure is a fun fishery.

20lb pink ande mainline or 17 lb works too. smallest swivel you can get. 20lb floro leader and yes the floro makes a huge difference. to 1/0 or # 1 red hook. make sure your drag is set right cause the fish should be able to take line. dont set the hook you slowly pull away from the fish when you feel the tap tap. just make sure you know how to fight the fish and lead him away from the structure.

Keep it simple! #4 or #6 hook, small barrel swivel 1/4 egg sinker (or split shot), 18" mono leader 10 to 12 lb, cover hook w/ clam (fresh) cast and stand by. If no bites add one more split shot. Yesterday most fish were caught deeper (3 split shots). Ck out post "Ace of spades".

Keep your drag right. Palm the spool when necessary for tension. If you are fishing close to the CLT legs and a Spade hauls azz for the legs, anything goes !
