Sorry in advance but I need your help.
The Mrs and I will be in OC next week while the boys are in a night camp all week.
My days in OC from late 70's thru mid 80's were great but I have not been there much since.

Any tips on quality seafood restaurants these days? Others too if you had a good dining experience.

Much appreciated.

The Angler by the piers is good for a sit down style. Buffet, I would say the BonFire. They have drastically improved! Plus the have a wide variety so you can have a taste of everything. JMHO

Try the EMBERS Buffet. They lowered the price to $19.95 per person. You can't beat it!

The galley is good to. Embers is similiar to Bonfire and equally as good.

The Bahia Marina Between 21st and 22nd street has the best tuna sandwich and hamburgers at a great price.

I prefer the sunset grille which is at the sunset marina!! They have amazing food and an excellent atmosphere. You can get there early for dinner and watch the boats bring their catches in from their offshore trips that day too!! Good luck to you.

The Wagon Wheel is a great place for seafood, and it's family friendly. The Wagon Wheel is located about four feet behind the horse's a$$!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

If you want a special night - there is a restuarant at a golf course across the bay. Very nice - not too stuffy and prices were not hateful. Sorry , do not recall the name. We got to it from Rt. 90. It had funny hours/days it was open to public but worth the drive.

Most OC places will be busy - I'll third the Captain's Galley in West OC. We often go for a late lunch/early dinner to avoid the crowds.

Marlin Moon Grill is a good one Phil. They were just named best restaurant in Maryland. It is located at the Francis Scott Key Hotel just over the draw bridge on RT.50

I went to Phillips last summer. They threw me out after 2 hours. The waiter joked with me when I came in about the time limit!! I am a very serious eater, and when I ate about 10 lbs. of the snow crab legs, he wasn't very happy !! He politely gave me the check and told me I was DONE !!!

Phillips was great in its hey day. I remember they had no liquor license and you could bring in your own beer.
Am I dating myself or is that still the way it is?
It is an institution in OC and I respect all that.

They use foriegn crab though and everything has too much filler from what others have told me.

Their By the Sea restaurant on the boarwalk I recal was pretty decent back in the early 80's.

I was asked to leave Family Fish House once. In fact all 8 of us where told to hike.

Ahhh yess..............................

Have fun! HFD too!

The Captains Galley has VERY good crab cakes. We go there every time we go to OC. Sunset Grill is also nice.

Belly Buster's around 42nd St oceanside. Dive/surfer hang out, but awesome food/seafood - best cheesesteak/chicken cheesteak on the East coast IMHO. Andy

By far Philips on 142 great buffet. Embers stinks in comparison. All you can eat crabs at Sneaky Petes is great also!

We went to Frescos on 83rd twice.
I highly recommend it.
Great food.
Veal Chop was awesome!
Chicken pasta, rack of lamb, and a shrimp and sausage rigitoni dish. All fantastic.
Wife and I spilt a lump crabmeat and prosuitto (sp) app. that was huge! It was a meal itself.

Italian bread drizzled with olive oil (italian butter). The oil had roasted cloves of garlic in it. Ate every clove.

Try Frescos.

Went to BJ's Tues night but I would not recommend it.

Big Peckkers has great burgers.

Thanks for the recommendation though guys. I want to try Shark and Marlin Moon.

For seafood, try Harrison's Harbor Watch right at the inlet. Awesome seafood and you can watch the boats going in/out of the inlet + see the guys fishing for Tog along the inlet. The best, albeit slightly expensive, in my humble opinion...

Try Charlies by the bay side. I think its on 80th street or so? Great food. Can sit on on e of the canals while eating. Its in a little shop village so after you eat you can stop in some of the little shops too. Try the stuffed scallops ..... best I've ever had.
