I hitting Bethany Beach next week and taking my boat for the first time. It's 18' walkaround and I'd be willing to venture out 4-5 miles (in decent weather) to the those artificial reefs if there is anything out there, or just stay in the bay.

So what is good to hit? Preferably bottom fishing, drifting, whatever is easy, we don't have the tackle to do much else. Any info would help, we've never had a boat in there before.

tough call,IR can be a rough place to fish for the 1st timer,it's one of those places thats best fished with somebody thats knows the water and the dangers, forget about on the weekend but a good time to go by car and watch, the best fishing right now is night time incoming tide drifting from the bridge back in to just past the coast guard station with live eel's being #1,storms bucktails and other swim baits will work also, getting in and out of the inlet safe could be real tough depening on the tides wind and current in your 18fter,it's narrow and lined both sides with rock jetties the water rips in and out of the inlet and swirls all though the center must be under power and stay on your line once you start though you got to go no stopping till you clear the inlet, watch the weather and pick your days #1 is to be safe and have fun,a better choice I think would be Lewes safe and plenty of good places to fish from there,if it's a snotty day you still can fish just stay in the canal, plenty of reefs and shoals to run out to all within a few miles of RI,if you would like b-mail me for gps locations..
